The SCS OPP/OMT Integration Workshop Series are designed to review and train Osteopathic students and residents in the hospital and ambulatory clinic settings.

These workshops contain information and curriculum that can be used by faculty to teach and reinforce Osteopathic Principles and Practices (OPP). The AOA Glossary, information on how to facilitate workshops for students and residents, handouts of the workshop, critical action competency based checklists, and workshop evaluations are also included within the PDFs attached to the DVDs.

Each workshop has specific goals and objectives relating to the topics:

  • Somatic dysfunction and TART
  • How to diagnose somatic dysfunction and pathologic findings in patients with various disease processes
  • The concepts of motion barriers and the principles of spinal mechanics
  • How to perform and document an OM Screening Exam and an Osteopathic SOAP note
  • Patient safety in regards to OMT
  • Osteopathic Principles and Practice in regards to safe medication use in the treatment of patients
  • Various types of OMT (Soft Tissue, Lymphatic Drainage, Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy, Functional Indirect and Direct Balancing, Spencer and Green's Glenoid Labrum Techniques, Carpal Tunnel Release, Counterstrain, Joint Play, and Still Techniques) and how to treat somatic dysfunction
  • How to perform exercises for self therapy
