Garden City Hospital began as an osteopathic teaching hospital in the 1950's, providing internship and residency training to over 1300 D.O.'s. Our commitment to excellence has been recognized in numerous clinical quality awards, including a Thomson 100 Top Hospitals Performance Improvement Leaders, the Governor's Award of Excellence for improving care in the emergency department and hospital setting, and top scores among southeastern Michigan hospitals as ranked by the Greater Detroit Area Health Council. In addition to delivering quality care, Garden City Hospital has been named one of the "101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For" in Michigan for multiple years.

Garden City Hospital offers a full range of community medical services at its main campus. The Westland Specialty Center provides a Wound Care and Hyperbaric Treatment Center, digital mammography and a sleep medicine lab. and on-site magnetic resonance imaging.

From the student perspective, GCH has been a base campus for Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine since the College's inception. Our philosophy has been to involve students as a part of the clinical team, from H&P's and progress notes to entering electronic orders and participating in hospital call.
