Highlights

There are two hospitals in the William Beaumont Health System. The Royal Oak site is a 1,061 bed level 1 tertiary care center providing exposure to highly-trained subspecialists and state of the art facilities and equipment. This has become a major teaching, research, and referral center for the surrounding communities, and is one of the busiest hospitals in the country for inpatient admissions and surgeries. The Troy site is a 254 bed acute care hospital that is also among the nation’s busiest community hospitals. A total of 91 medical and surgical subspecialties are represented on Beaumont’s medical staff of more than 2,400 physicians.

Beaumont’s hospitals are major teaching facilities with a total of 290 resident physicians in 17 accredited residency programs and 40 fellows in 13 fellowship programs. Beaumont is affiliated with several surrounding major universities including The Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and has recently received approval for a dually-accredited residency program in Family Medicine. This dual program is anticipated to begin in 2008 at the Troy site and will include a fully integrated Osteopathic Medicine curriculum.

The Family Medicine program has 8 full-time faculty, all board certified and trained in various fellowships including faculty development, research, obstetrics, and behavioral science. The faculty are committed to teaching, and help to provide a solid curriculum with daily didactics and one-on-one precepting.
